Roseau Travel Safety Guide — Dominica
Safety Score: 8/10 · Value: 8/10 · Beauty: 8.9/10
Roseau is the capital of Dominica, nicknamed the 'Nature Isle of the Caribbean' for being the most volcanically active, biologically diverse, and least-developed major island in the region. Unlike most Caribbean islands, Dominica is not a beach destination, it is a jungle and volcano destination with 365 rivers, the Boiling Lake (world's second-largest, 83°C), Morne Trois Pitons UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Champagne Reef where volcanic bubbles rise through coral. The island was severely damaged by Hurricane Maria in September 2017, but has largely rebuilt. Dominica also has the largest Kalinago (Carib) indigenous community in the Caribbean.
