Kingstown is the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a chain of 32 islands and cays stretching 95km south toward Grenada. The Grenadines (Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, and the Tobago Cays) are among the Caribbean's most exclusive and beautiful sailing destinations. Tobago Cays Marine Park, five uninhabited islets surrounded by a horseshoe reef, is one of the Caribbean's most beautiful anchorages. La Soufrière on Saint Vincent is the Eastern Caribbean's highest peak (1,234m) and an active volcano that erupted dramatically in April 2021, forcing the evacuation of 16,000 residents. The Pirates of the Caribbean films (2003–2017) used Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a primary filming location.
