ACTIVE CIVIL WAR — Do Not Travelhigh
Sudan has been in active civil war since April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Khartoum city has experienced intense urban fighting, shelling, and mass displacement. The US, UK, EU, and all major governments rate Sudan at their highest 'do not travel' warning. This Tripvey entry is provided for informational and future planning purposes only — do not travel to Sudan until a formal peace agreement is in place and your government's advisory is revised.
Extreme Desert Heat & Limited Medical Facilitieshigh
Khartoum is one of the world's hottest capitals — summer temperatures regularly exceed 45°C (113°F) with minimal humidity relief. The city has very limited advanced medical facilities even in peacetime; in the current conflict, hospitals have been severely damaged or closed. For any future visit after peace returns, comprehensive medical evacuation insurance is essential, and all outdoor activities should be limited to early morning/evening in the hot season (May–September).
