How we score destinations
Transparency about where Tripvey Scores come from.
1. What the Tripvey Score is
Every destination gets three scores from 0 to 10 — Safety, Value, and Beauty. Each one is Tripvey's own estimate, compiled by reviewing a wide range of publicly available information about that place. It is a starting point for your research, not a precise measurement or a guarantee.
2. Where the data comes from
We form each estimate by reviewing a range of publicly available sources, such as:
- •Government travel advisories
- •Public crime and safety indices
- •Cost-of-living and price data
- •Publicly available traveler discussions and reviews across the web
- •Official tourism and transport information
3. How we form a score
We review this information together and make a considered judgement for each dimension. Each score is Tripvey's own editorial estimate — not a calculated average of any single dataset. Scores reflect a point in time and are updated periodically as conditions and information change. Different sources can disagree, so a score is a balanced summary rather than the final word.
4. Traveler reviews are separate
The Tripvey Score is separate from traveler reviews. Reviews are written by individual members and shown as their own opinions. As our community grows, real reviews will appear on each destination — we never invent reviews or reviewers.
5. Important — please read
Tripvey Scores are estimates for general information only. They are NOT official safety advice and must not be used as the sole basis for any travel decision. Conditions on the ground can change quickly.
Always check your government's official travel advisory before you travel. See our Safety Ratings Disclaimer.
