Vientiane Travel Safety Guide — Laos
Safety Score: 8.5/10 · Value: 9/10 · Beauty: 7.3/10
Vientiane is one of Southeast Asia's smallest and least-visited capitals, and one of its most charming. A sleepy Mekong riverside city with French colonial architecture, golden Buddhist temples (Pha That Luang, the national symbol), and a pace of life so unhurried it feels like another era. The Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan), 25km outside the city, is one of Southeast Asia's most surreal sculptures, 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues in a riverside park.
