Safety Score: 9.3/10 · Value: 6/10 · Beauty: 9.3/10
Interlaken sits between two glacial lakes, Thunersee and Brienzersee, at the foot of the Bernese Oberland, directly overlooked by the three great peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. It is Switzerland's adventure capital and the launching point for the Jungfraujoch (3,454m), the highest railway station in Europe, offering views over the largest glacier in the Alps. Beyond the famous train ride, the region offers paragliding above emerald valleys, Lauterbrunnen's 72 waterfalls, the car-free villages of Mürren and Wengen, and some of the world's most dramatic hiking terrain.
