Belize City is not really a place to linger, it is the way in to one of the best stretches of sea in the world. The Belize Barrier Reef runs the whole length of the coast and is the second longest on earth. Offshore sits the Great Blue Hole, a huge round sinkhole that divers travel a long way for and that you have probably seen in photos taken from the air. Most people pass through the city quickly and head out to the cayes or the reef. One nice bonus: Belize is English-speaking and fairly easy to get around, which takes a lot of the stress out of a trip.
